Dedicated to the victims and survivors of physical, mental, and emotional abuse.

the spirit

being embraced

within this human being

the soul

being housed

within this heart and mind

cannot be imprisoned

by your immoral actions

your disrespectful

condescending words

you have

bruised my flesh

choked me

with your insolence

forced me to swallow

your vile poisons

fear

strength

Sorrowfully

harm was imposed upon

all of the inhabitants

of our home

young as they were

some are still

prying the fingers of

fear and disrespect

which had grasped such a hold

upon their tender hearts

you, thus far,

have lived a life

protected by impunity

Justice has now claimed her due.

I am who I am.

Never will there ever be a moment

in my life that you can lay claim to.

With grace

mercy

hope and love

I have unloaded the burdens

you would have me carry.

I have broken the chains of fear.

I am, once again, beautiful me.

My prayers lie in the hope

that my heart

my words

my actions,

would never turn to such

wretchedness

as I have experienced.

I pray that my

Most Holy Reverend Father God

would never find me

guilty of contempt.

I kiss you

Yet this life I am living

is vacant of your presence

Does loneliness cause tears to flow in your most secret hiding place?

I see you

There are times when

You are with me all day

Yet no other soul can

lay their eyes upon you

Who has captured your attention?

I feel your warmth

You are so close to me

Your breath on my skin

But I can’t touch you

Please, come close.

I drink in your love

I thirst for you

Yet I have no cup

Are you thirsty?

I cherish your thoughts

I long to hear more

I would love to grant your

most cherished wish

Who do you hold close to your heart?

I love the smell of your skin

Remembering

is all I have

Do you remember?

I sleep in your arms

In my dreams

Are you dreaming?

1

On a quiet path

of varied bricks

strolling along

Silently

musing the beauty all around

in one corner of the walkway

weeds and grasses

of countless varieties

had                                          overgrown                               overtaken

the beauty that was originally there

looking down and taking notice

my eyes fell upon one lonely wildflower

of bright yellow petals

with a brilliant orange pistil

the morning dew, still refreshing it

but the stem was fragile looking

almost weary

2

A very hot and sunny summer day

a fledgling

testing his wings

Enjoying                                  his                                            freedom

finding himself a bit of earth

for the pleasure of bathing

Unaware

of the dangers surrounding

Unknowing

by the dear soul driving

the young bird

met death that afternoon

Dismayed

I picked the sparrow up

carried it to a shady place

under a great pine tree

where the air is cool and tender

laying it to rest

3

Like the flower

You may feel lonely and separated

Overcome by situations in your life

Not able to see through the confusion

Searching for a glimpse of hope

Weary of trying

the dewdrops                 are the tears                     from a sorrowful heart

watching the sparrow

wondering

if death occurred

Would anyone care?

Would anyone take notice?

by all means

Yes

4

A simple wildflower

A simple sparrow

A simple life of beauty

as the wildflower was nearly consumed

by weeds of all sorts

it was still in full view of the Maker

as the sparrow was kissed by death

He was still in full view of the Maker

when feelings of loneliness

attempt to discourage you

know that you are in full view

of the Maker of heaven and earth

as He clothed the lilies resplendently

so has He brought beauty

to His creation

by placing you here

In the midst

as His eye is on the sparrow

realize that you are never alone

He will never leave you

He will never forsake you

His love for you is eternal

Reveal to Loneliness               that you have a Friend            His name is Truth

“Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.” Luke 12:27

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Matthew 6:26

“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” Luke 12:6-7

The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3

“I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.” Jeremiah 31:13b

I often go to the

deep crevices

of my Heart

Mind

and Soul

where one treasures

Memories

Thoughts

and Moments

to find you

to cherish the Beauty

that

at one time

sustained

who we were

to the other

a blanket of

Hope

and Prayers

uttered with tears

are all I have

to comfort my Misery

to ease the burden

of the Loneliness lurking

in every waking moment

and daring to captivate

my

dreams

each

night

is languishing

the Bitterness

I miss you

imploringly

yet I am

tenaciously

cleaving to

the Sweetness

I love you

continually

Standing in the stillness

of a hot July night

my heart pounding

for the hope that lives and breathes

directing me toward the path

I must take

my Dreams are hovering in reality

fearing to grasp hold of what I long for

yet the Fear is great enough that it

pushes me to take what belongs to me

winds of love reveal

hidden Secrets lost within

wisdom’s gracious revelation

Honesty

Truth

Peace

resides beyond the gleaming

Stars

go there with me

let us lie together beneath the mighty

Heavens

to Dream

Hope

Love

Be

with me

orchestrating life from above

summer’s sweet breeze

placing her cloak around

my shoulders

alone

hiding

behind the honeysuckle vine

drinking

its’ sweet delicious nectar

all the while

a great white

midsummer moon

devotions of love surrounding

He kissed me

To keep your eyes upon the page

Your heart turned toward heaven

As a learned and wise old sage

Who, pray tell, will revel in?

It is not so much the example of others we imitate as the reflection of ourselves in their eyes and the echo of ourselves in their own words. ~Eric Hoffer

Your heart turned toward heaven

Within, your mind bringing beauty

Who, pray tell, will revel in?

Coming close, touching, to see

Within, your mind bringing beauty

Your fingerprints on our world

Coming close, touching, to see

Interior Radiance

Your fingerprints on our world

What are you made of Soul, divine?

Interior Radiance

In nature, pleasantries benign

What are you made of Soul, divine?

Gilt-edged sheaths, Red letters speaking

In nature, pleasantries benign

While roots lie in the deep, dark, earth

Gilt-edged sheaths, Red letters speaking

Where are you? Can you hear the sound?

While roots lie in the deep, dark, earth

I, too, went far away at times

Where are you? Can you hear the sound?

Closer. Come closer. Listen.

I, too, went far away at times

He did what he did, forgiven.

Closer. Come closer. Listen.

Mercy, grace, for you, ex gratia

He did what he did, forgiven.

From favour, each is as they are

Mercy, grace, for you, ex gratia

Significant Loyalty

From favour, each is as they are

Honey rendered from the bloom
