Death girdled

The innards of my soul

Tears pierced, fury bridled

Youth’s fool, hearts’ toll

The innards of my soul

Hope floundered, Grace grasped

Youth’s fool, hearts’ toll

Above your door, there is a task

Hope floundered, Grace grasped

Faded blue, trimmed yellow

Above your door, there is a task

Blood boiling as Othello

Faded blue, trimmed yellow

The artists’ hand must speak the heart

Blood boiling as Othello

Nature’s beauty will never part

The artists’ hand must speak the heart

Brilliant orange with streams of yellow, as chiffon

Nature’s beauty will never part

Beneath the horizon, a song of frisson

Brilliant orange with streams of yellow, as chiffon

Orbed fashions of beet juice red

Beneath the horizon, a song of frisson

A root grounded, wings spread

Orbed fashions of beet juice red

Merlot grapes upon the fringes

A root grounded, wings spread

A velvet cloak from within

Merlot grapes upon the fringes

Circular patterns are no more

A velvet cloak from within

Four letters over the door

Circular patterns are no more

One less, love lost

Four letters over the door

Wrongs placed upon the cross

One less, love lost

Isis, miracle of life

Wrongs placed upon the cross

To live in peace, not in strife

Isis, miracle of life

City scenes within her name

To live in peace, not in strife

Only one remains unstained

City scenes within her name

London, Paris, Venice, all tainted

Only one remains unstained

New Jerusalem holy, sainted

London, Paris, Venice, all tainted

Tears pierced, fury bridled

New Jerusalem holy, sainted

Death girdled

at his side

reddened eyes

as though she slept

crying

I could feel her

writhing pain

in the middle of town

the sun out

skies of blue

she bent down

picking up a

we each caught

a glimpse of the other

she looked down

again

maybe in shame

I looked up

again

maybe with hope

and a prayer

for her life

Dedicated to our nation as we struggle with the aftermath of tragedy and death experienced in Tucson, Arizona, on Saturday, January 8, 2011. May our prayers and thoughts be turned toward our Maker for all who are suffering the loss of those they so dearly loved and those that are in need of healing.

My wounds are deep

Their pain intense

So much that

My flesh is weak and frail

Faltering within lies my voice

Silent is my prayer

Hope on. Hope ever.

His presence hovers over me

He heals my broken heart

My Father carries my sorrows

He restores my soul

I look to the heavens

I know where my help comes from

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3

Dedicated to the victims and survivors of physical, mental, and emotional abuse.

the spirit

being embraced

within this human being

the soul

being housed

within this heart and mind

cannot be imprisoned

by your immoral actions

your disrespectful

condescending words

you have

bruised my flesh

choked me

with your insolence

forced me to swallow

your vile poisons

fear

strength

Sorrowfully

harm was imposed upon

all of the inhabitants

of our home

young as they were

some are still

prying the fingers of

fear and disrespect

which had grasped such a hold

upon their tender hearts

you, thus far,

have lived a life

protected by impunity

Justice has now claimed her due.

I am who I am.

Never will there ever be a moment

in my life that you can lay claim to.

With grace

mercy

hope and love

I have unloaded the burdens

you would have me carry.

I have broken the chains of fear.

I am, once again, beautiful me.

My prayers lie in the hope

that my heart

my words

my actions,

would never turn to such

wretchedness

as I have experienced.

I pray that my

Most Holy Reverend Father God

would never find me

guilty of contempt.
