Upon your last exhalation I hovered

over your empty beautiful vessel

while the warmth of your spirit cloaked me as a

heavy woolen blanket. Our last

communication of love will remain in

existence within the very fibers

that constitute this being of whom you have

invested so many of your

days here upon this dusty soil. Our last

earthly consumption, to drink of your love,

your grace, your prayers. A spirit which has reached the

heavens on high yet continues

to linger within my soul. I aspire, hope

to walk that path destined eternally

Pellucid Peace by Dorothy Bruce

Hope

Cares not

If his load to bear

Is heavier than yours

He will continue on

Hope

does not mind

if you have no desire

to hold his hand

He will be there

For you

Always at your side

Just in case

 And if you must

Discard him

Today

You will find

His tears

Having fallen

So delicately

Upon all which has been

Blanketed by darkness

 For he knows what belongs

To each new day

And whatsoever direction

You choose

For your life

He will be there

For you

Lies hope in the

Everlasting truth

I wrote this poem for my sister several years ago. Her birthday is only 31 min away as I begin to write this post and I wanted to share it with her, and with you, my reader. I hope it brings a smile to you and I hope that if you have a sibling you don’t get to see as much as you like, that you might think of them and whisper a little prayer. The charm of this poem lies in the fact that my sister and I are the same age for 10 days! So my sister, Lynne, takes every advantage possible, even 500 miles apart, even while flying over Baghdad, even while saving and caring for all of her lovely creatures, great and small, to make sure that I know I am older than she! But, in truth, we are the same age for 10 days. And to that bit I hold onto dearly. It is a much lesser time for me to cherish than her with having 355 days to flaunt her youth!

Welcome to the forties

April babies must be the most unique, creative, and loving people ever! Happy Birthday Lynne! I love you so much!

Oh! All of the stories

For the next ten days you see

You are just as old as me

That fact you cannot deny

Nor tell the slightest little lie

For when all is said and done

I will then turn forty-one.

So do not fear

My sweet sister dear

You will again be younger than I

And you may hear me gently sigh

My! How each new year does quietly pass

Much too quick and much too fast.

Welcome to the fourth decade of our lives.

Be happy! We’re still young enough to dance and jive.

(You don’t always have to make me go first.)

I say we go celebrate and buy a new purse!

Cruel words

from

blind and bruised hearts

in a fretful way

try to consume

a virtue held within

a soul that is free

to love and forgive.

The attack may continue.

Truth is ever victor.

When icy shards of bitterness

touch a heart yearning for truth

with a piercing shrill

they crack and fall

Shattering

So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Therefore let us stop passing judgement on one another. Romans 14:12-13

at the feet of their provoker

forming a puddle round about.

Love is so warm

with compassion and

gentleness

forgiveness and

peace.

ignorance

misunderstanding and

judgement

may be lurking.

they may cause tears to flow.

I will remain who I am.

True to the one who holds my heart.

Born from the undesirable excess of a long-endured abusive relationship.

It is quite disturbing

when the spirit within me

reveals to me

the spirit within you

As a demon

Yes, you, a demon

appeared to me

in a nightmare

Where you were

completely controlled

Isn’t that ironic?

with constant nervous

movements

and unseen before

contortions

of every one

of your limbs.

You were fully clothed

unlike the man Jesus healed.

You know, where the

Legion of demons

entered the pigs? Mark 5

You had three dumb powerhouses

To aid you in your plans.

whatever those plans may have been

Although,

you never

accomplished anything

other than your

strange gestures and

psychotic writhing.

I found it all quite sickening

You never moved

from your chair

along the wall.

You were waiting for court to proceed

waiting for the judge to proclaim to you

‘Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

The activities your children

participate in

are invalid!’

Really?

I should send your argument to SNL.

‘Yes. Music lessons are valid,

but the instrument is not.’

Really?

It was frightful to see you

Possessed

Oppressed

Tormented

It was emotionally draining to have to

deal with you in this manner.

But you were never able to touch me

or any of my loved ones.

You were thoroughly consumed

in nonsensical demonic activity.

No, I did not wipe the drool off of your face.

It just puddled to the floor.

I had this nightmare.

I remain on my knees

in love with

my Father God.

Maon…           my Dwelling Place

Machseh…     my Refuge

Magen…         my Shield

Metsuda…     my Fortress

Migdal-Oz…  my Strong Tower

Now I have penned this

dreadful bout of anguish

while continuing to deal

with the years of fear

You heaved upon me.

I am not perfect but

I am beautiful and

I am free.

I no longer live your nightmare.

You are not perfect

You are ugly

You are living this nightmare.

Somehow,

I still pray for you.

But honestly,

I don’t think it is me.

It must be someone

much more nobler than I,

one whom resides within.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you from the fowlers snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you make the Most High your dwelling—even the Lord, who is my refuge—then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.” Psalm 91:1-16 TCR NIV Bible
